‘Electric’ – Micah Richards hails Leeds talent who he was ‘so impressed’ with v Fulham

Micah Richards has lavished praise on Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford for his “electric” performance against Fulham on Saturday.

The hitman registered a goal and an assist in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Scott Parker’s men, scoring for a second consecutive game in the Premier League.

The result represented the Whites’ first top flight win in 16 years, and Richards was quick to extol the virtues of Bamford’s contribution to his side’s display.

Speaking on Final Score (BBC One, 4.30pm, September 19th), he said: “I was so impressed.

“His hold-up play, his movement, his finishing, bringing people into the game – I thought he was electric today.

“He really impressed me.”

Richards’ colleague Karen Carney agreed, adding: “It was a clinical finish.

“That was probably his biggest criticism last season, not having that edge, but he’s taken it two weeks on the bounce now and he’s been very good.”

Bamford has looked every inch the Premier League leading man since the new season started, and we’re absolutely loving it.

Two in two is a fantastic record for somebody who had one Premier League strike in 27 appearances prior to the beginning of this campaign.

This was so much more than just a goalscoring performance though.

As per Whoscored, Bamford registered a pass completion rate of 90.9% against Fulham, some 14% higher than his career average, according to Wyscout.

That efficiency in possession will be a fantastic tool for a player who generally operates as a focal point around which his side build attacks anyway, and if he can continue this fine purple patch in front of goal, then he could be on course for a massive season at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are in talks to sign this French midfielder.
