EFL make Ao Tanaka announcement after what he did in Leeds v Millwall
Ao Tanaka has been rewarded for his fine performance for Leeds in their win against Millwall.
Leeds secured a huge three points at Elland Road on Wednesday evening, with a 2-0 victory against Millwall.
Given the fact that all three teams below the Whites dropped points, the win could prove to be a decisive one ahead of the final nine games of the season.
As it stands, Leeds are on course to achieve automatic promotion back to the Premier League, and they certainly have one man to thank yet again.

Tanaka gets EFL recognition for Leeds display
Having scored the goal to seal the win for Leeds against Millwall, Tanaka has been named in the Championship midweek Team of the Week once again.
The Japanese midfielder has been crucial to the success achieved by the Whites so far this season, and will undoubtedly continue that way until the very last kick, which will hopefully end in promotion for Daniel Farke’s side.
Leeds | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Pass accuracy |
Ao Tanaka | 34 | 4 | 2 | 89.9% |
Throughout the campaign, Tanaka has looked a level above most in the Championship, and his goal at Elland Road was just a showcase of his growing range of attributes that have seen him thrive at this level.
Junior Firpo was also named in the TOTW, having registered the assist for Tanaka’s goal.

Leeds are edging closer to Premier League football
Their recent defeat to Portsmouth saw some concerns emerge, but their ability to bounce straight back proved valuable as they moved back to the summit of the Championship.
With the teams below them dropping points, it means that the Whites now have a four-point advantage on third-placed Burnley, while sitting two above Sheffield United.
Of course, those two teams still have each other to play, while the Blades also have a Steel City derby to attend to.
As we approach the final run-in, promotion is edging closer and closer for Leeds, who look as though they are set to achieve their ultimate goal.
