EFL Insider: £5m+ offer tabled for Leeds-linked attacker; report claims ‘likely to leave’ by Fri

Reading insider Eddie Wallbank has said he’s heard that two £5m+ offers have been tabled for Reading winger Michael Olise from three clubs – Arsenal, Wolves and Leeds United.

Wallbank, who writes the Insider Column for the Reading Chronicle, made the claim after The Daily Mail reported that Olise was “likely to leave” before Friday’s domestic deadline.

The Daily Mail named the three Premier League clubs as the interested parties for the 18-year-old, who broke into the Reading first-team in the 18/19 season.

He made 13 starts in 19 Championship appearances last season and has started all four games for Reading in the league this season.

However, Wallbank claims that Reading “are not interested in selling him. It will take a lot more money to see Olise leave.”

Olise? Not in this window

MOT Leeds News revealed exclusively back in August that Leeds were set to make an approach for the highly-rated young player.

However, since then, Leeds have signed Raphinha from French club Rennes, with the winger adding even more firepower to the flanks.

He’s in competition with Jack Harrison and Helder Costa who both signed new deals with Leeds this summer.

Ian Poveda is also a big option on the wings after impressing in the 1-1 draw with Man City.

If Olise did sign for Leeds he would be behind all of these players in the pecking order at Elland Road and would more likely be playing for the Under-23s.

That might not suit the player who is guaranteed first-team football at Reading. It also sounds like Reading value the player a lot higher than £5m.

Olise is under contract until 2022 and next summer could be the time that teams really test Reading’s resolve, as the player enters the last year of his contract.

We can’t see him joining Leeds in this transfer window.
