EFL clubs pushing for transfer change to prevent PL clubs from exploiting offers – report

EFL clubs are pushing for a longer, flexible summer transfer window to prevent Premier League club from exploiting them according to the Daily Mail, in a move which could help Leeds United.

It is suggested that lower-league clubs are worried that they could lose some of their better players from lower offers which they can’t refuse because of the financial problems brought along during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The report claims that the transfer window may not start until the end of August, with this season not expected to finish until the beginning of the same month.

That could certainly help Leeds and more specifically their chances of signing Ben White in the summer. It has been reported that a group of top Premier League clubs including Liverpool want the Brighton loanee.

Manchester United are another one of those clubs, and it was revealed in this report that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was one manager who wanted to exploit the window – something which could see them out of the race for the 22-year-old.

Leeds have been named as one club struggling to cope with the financial aspect of this enforced break, with Sportsmail reporting that half-a-dozen Championship sides even face the prospect of going bust before football returns.

That potentially puts the Whites in a position where they could have been exploited for some of their brightest talents such as Kalvin Phillips, so this could really help us moving forward.
