EFL boss fires reality-check at Leeds talent, claims 20y/o needs to recognise luck
Swindon Town boss John Sheridan has fired a reality check at Leeds United talent Jordan Stevens after his failed loan spell.
The 20-year-old has seen his temporary move terminated, and Sheridan believes he needs to realise how lucky he is to be at Elland Road.
Stevens has featured 13 times in League One this season but was only used sparingly since Sheridan arrived at the County Ground.
Speaking to the Swindon Advertiser, Sheridan claimed that Stevens needs to apply himself more to succeed at Elland Road in the future.
“Jordan is a young kid who really needs to realise how lucky he is to be at a club like Leeds United,” he said.
“For Jordan’s sake – and this is me being honest to him – he needs to have a bit more fire in his belly and realise how fortunate he is to be a young footballer at a massive club, in my eyes.
“More than anything, he needs to enjoy being a player.”
Bielsa will have been keeping a close eye on the winger, after giving him a number of appearances in the Championship.
The 20-year-old is now set to move to Bradford City in League Two, and he will be dropping down competition to get more minutes.
Given this scathing evidence from Sheridan, Stevens will need to apply himself more to impress at Bradford, but also those watching him back at Elland Road.
Stevens made the perfect start at Swindon, scoring and delivering an assist in his first two games, but has since failed to be involved in any goals.
He must take this warning from Sheridan, and use it to his advantage.
