Eddie Nketiah sends three-word Twitter message to ex-Leeds United teammate
Eddie Nketiah has taken to Twitter to send a message to former Leeds United teammate Barry Douglas.
The young striker spent the first half of the season on loan at Elland Road, but was recalled by parent club Arsenal in January.
He showed that he is still keeping up to date with goings on in Yorkshire, however, with a tweet praising the Scottish full-back for his shooting ability.
The 30-year-old shared a training ground video to his personal Twitter account in which he scored a pair of long range screamers alongside the caption: “Decent first touch, head over the ball, then hit and hope”.
Nketiah then replied to the footage with a message of his own.
Writing on his personal account, he said: “That left foot”, followed by a starry-eyed emoji.
It’s nice to know that Eddie is still keeping up to date with Leeds when and where he can.
The striker greatly endeared himself to the Elland Road faithful with his goalscoring talents in the early months of this season, and it was a real shame to see him return to Arsenal before he was initially supposed to.
As for Douglas, you have to wonder where he has been hiding these shooting boots for all this time.
39 outings have yet to yield a strike for the Whites, and this season he has failed to even hit the target from nine attempts on goal, as per Wyscout.
These weren’t just tap-ins he was scoring either, but rather long range scorchers that nestled comfortably in the top corner.
Given that he has been restricted to just 11 Championship outings this season, with his most recent coming against Sheffield Wednesday in January, it will be interesting to see how many chances to prove himself he gets between now and the end of the season.
Following this footage coming to light, however, you can bet that if and when he does get a run out, his teammates might just be a little bit more willing to encourage him to have a crack on goal.
