Eddie Gray in terrific Daniel Farke claim amid Leeds United sack development

Eddie Gray has hailed Daniel Farke for the job he’s done at Leeds United.

The German manager won the Championship title with the Whites last season but is now finding life difficult in the Premier League, as was to be expected.

Farke’s future at Elland Road has become uncertain, with the West Yorkshire outfit sitting 18th in the league table right now.

Leeds face Chelsea at home next on 3 December, and a loss to Enzo Maresca’s team would be their fifth straight defeat, putting more pressure on the German manager.

Ange Postecoglou, Brendan Rodgers and Gary O’Neil on Leeds United shortlist

Gary O’Neil has emerged as a fresh contender to replace Farke if he’s sacked.

talkSPORT reports that the former Bournemouth and Wolves manager has joined Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers in the race to become the new manager at Elland Road.

While fans in LS11 may want to see the former Norwich City boss leave, Gray has a different take on things.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 3 December, when Jim White asked whether supporters are divided about Farke, the Scotsman said: “I think the manager has done a good job for the football club. I think he’s done a terrific job. It’s a big jump from the Championship to the Premier League, the quality of players you’re playing against. It makes it more difficult for everybody.”

Leeds players are fully behind Farke, but they need to show that commitment on the field by getting the required results.

If the West Yorkshire outfit’s spiralling form continues, it would be hard to see the German manager survive the sack.

Daniel Farke sack date already set at Elland Road

Farke won’t last at Elland Road if he loses to Chelsea and Liverpool, amid a tough run of fixtures for the Whites.

Leeds face Arne Slot’s team on 6 December in the Premier League after back-to-back matches against Aston Villa, Manchester City and Chelsea.

While it may seem harsh to replace the German manager considering the recent opponents, the West Yorkshire outfit haven’t been good enough for most of the campaign.

With Premier League survival in the balance, the Peacocks have to be ruthless regarding Farke’s future in LS11.
