Early Leeds United team news vs Crystal Palace as Lukas Nmecha injury update drops
Daniel Farke’s Leeds United ranks are expected to be replenished ahead of Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace.
Leeds fought back to draw 1-1 with Brentford on Sunday, with Farke’s men now enjoying a three-game unbeaten run having beaten Chelsea and Liverpool in the two games prior.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was on target for Leeds against Brentford, with the England striker now having scored in four consecutive games for the Whites.
Farke’s side have opened up a three-point gap to 18th-placed West Ham United as a result, and will once again be looking to utilise their Elland Road fortress to claim further precious points when Leeds face high-flying Crystal Palace this weekend.
That will be far easier said than done for the Whites, but Farke is expecting to get some vital reinforcements back in time to face Oliver Glasner’s team.

Lukas Nmecha and Gabriel Gudmundsson update emerges for Leeds
Amid the delight of the late Calvert-Lewin equaliser to hand Leeds a precious point away at Brentford on Sunday, left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson was forced off just minutes before the end with a knock.
However, speaking with BBC Radio Leeds via LeedsLive after that game, Farke was able to put Leeds fans’ minds at rest over fears the 26-year-old Swede had suffered a significant injury.
“I think it was cramp in the end, lots of effort – I don’t think it’s too bad,” said the Whites boss on his summer signing from Lille.
The Leeds gaffer also expects striker Lukas Nmecha, who has missed the previous two matches with a hamstring issue, to be back in the fold for Crystal Palace.
Nmecha trained and worked alone ahead of Leeds’ clash with Brentford, but Farke expects the 27-year-old to be involved with group training as normal this week.
Farke to make easy Nmecha and Gudmundsson decision in Leeds v Crystal Palace
Nmecha’s injury setback came at a highly frustrating time for everyone connected with Leeds United.
The ex-Wolfsburg striker was in the form of his early Leeds life when his hamstring issue arose against Chelsea, with the German finding the net in three successive games ahead of the 3-1 win over the Blues.
As such, he was in the process of building an excellent partnership with Calvert-Lewin, and so Farke will surely want to resume that construction work ASAP.
- Leeds United are taking on Crystal Palace at Elland Road on Saturday
- Daniel Farke is expecting to get Lukas Nmecha and Gabriel Gudmundsson back from injury
- Leeds are looking to extend their unbeaten run to four games vs the Eagles
Meanwhile, Gudmundsson has proven himself to be a steady and consistent performer in the Whites defence so far this season, having started all but one of Leeds’ 16 Premier League games so far.
So, with Sam Byram and James Justin as the only other alternatives in that left-back spot, Gudmundsson is sure to reprise his starting role this weekend.
