Early Leeds United team news v Manchester City: Stuart Dallas undergoes surgery, Luis Sinisterra out

Jesse Marsch is hopeful that Luis Sinisterra and Stuard Dallas will be the only absentees for Leeds United when they host Manchester City on Wednesday 28 December.

Speaking in his latest press conference the American revealed (The Athletic’s Phil Hay, 22 December) that Sinisterra is due back in a couple of weeks.

Stuart Dallas also remains sidelined having undergone a small operation on Wednesday 21 December to clear up an issue.

Baptism of fire

The visit of Manchester City is pretty much the toughest test Marsch’s side could have been given on their return to Premier League action. However, there should be some confidence heading into the fixture, with the Whites managing to match up well against the supposed big six clubs so far in the 2022/23 season.

Marsch’s side completely dominated Chelsea at Elland Road early on in the campaign and were extremely unlucky not to beat league leaders Arsenal in West Yorkshire. Furthermore, they are also coming off a recent win against Liverpool at Anfield.

Pep Guardiola also has a number of players who have been competing at the World Cup in Qatar, which could lead to a few tired legs in the City team.

There’s no getting away from the fact that it’s going to be an extremely tough test for Leeds. Whoever lines up in the centre of defence is set for their toughest test of the season, as a fully charged and fresh Erling Haaland looks to continue where he left off.
