Durham comes out swinging for Leeds after terrible talkSPORT take
talkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy has been hammering Leeds United of late and he was at it again after the 3-0 win against Southampton.
Talking on Thursday night he said the Leeds defence was appalling and they were destined to be a mid-table side.
Thankfully, there are journalists on talkSPORT who care about more than just antagonising fans for no reason.
Adrian Durham came out swinging for Leeds on his Drive show this afternoon (talkSPORT, Wednesday, 5pm).
“Leeds battered Southampton 3-0, that’s what Leeds can do,” Durham said.
“Let’s get this straight, their fans are happy, they’re definitely staying up, they’re ahead of Arsenal thanks very much.
“Defensively you can talk about that all day if you want but who cares when they’ve
scored 43 goals, that’s entertainment. Remember entertainment?
“They’ve scored 12 goals more than Arsenal, only one fewer than Leicester who are in the top four.”
Don’t forget the injuries!
There have been a number of people taking issue with how Leeds are doing things this season, but they all ignore the fact that we’ve had two senior international centre-backs out injured.
We love the fact that Bielsa has turned us into the most attractive team in the Premier League alongside Pep Guardiola.
But we expect to tighten things up with Diego Llorente back and Robin Koch still to return.
Bielsa was thrilling us in the Championship last season while boasting the best defence in the division.
Bielsa isn’t naive and he isn’t Keegan at Newcastle. He’s one of the best coaches in the world and after a season in the Premier League, we’re sure he’ll get the defence sorted next season.
We’ll still win games 5-2 and we’ll still take the occasional paddling but if we can play the way we do at the moment and challenge for honours, it’s the ultimate football dream.
