Door now open for Daniel Farke to sign Jayson Molumby for Leeds United as Marc Roca exit news emerge
Marc Roca signed his loan contract at Real Betis on Friday ahead of leaving Leeds United and the door could now be open for Daniel Farke to push for a statement swoop in West Brom’s Jayson Molumby.
Spanish outlet El Desmarque reported on 15 July that Roca, 26, is joining Betis on a loan deal that doesn’t include an option-to-buy clause and the former Bayern Munich man has already signed his contract ahead of his move.
It is understood that while a permanent deal could be negotiated at some point during the loan, there is the chance for Betis to extend Roca’s temporary stay for two years if Leeds somehow fail to win promotion back to the Premier League next season.

The announcement of Roca’s move is expected to be done at both clubs soon, but with the new Championship season set to begin in just under three weeks’ time, Leeds United must be swift in the market to find Roca’s replacement.
With the Spaniard set to seal his Elland Road exit, the door has certainly now opened for new boss Farke to seal a move for West Brom midfielder Molumby, who recently emerged as a top midfield target.
According to newspaper journalist Alan Nixon (18 June), the Whites want to sign the Baggies 2023 Player of the Year, and it’s been reported that the Irish international has been made available for a transfer.
“Leeds United are keen on West Brom’s Republic of Ireland midfield enforcer Jayson Molumby,” Nixon wrote on Patreon.
“The Elland Road club are looking to recruit proven players to toughen up their team and Molumby is available at the right price.”
Roca certainly may not be the only midfielder walking out the door, having already joined the likes of Brenden Aaronson to seek pastures new after the Whites’ relegation and key man Tyler Adams could well be following them.

Farke and his recruitment team will desperately be searching for players of a similar ilk to Adams and Roca, and Molumby certainly represents a smart addition, but also it’d be a strong statement from the Whites, to grab a player from their Championship rivals.
Molumby made 43 league appearances for the Albion this season, registering four goals and four assists as the club finished ninth in the Championship as he emerged as a vital performer for Carlos Corberan last season.
Known for his “perfect” aggression, midfield invention, dynamism and cutting-edge play, the 23-year-old has become something of a unique weapon in the West Brom squad over the past year, and possesses the kind of grand characteristics Farke will be looking to possess in his midfield.

Leeds United shouldn’t only be targeting players for the short-term capable of making an impact in the Championship, but also players possessing the capabilities to make an immediate step up to Premier League football and impress, Molumby is certainly that man given his fitness levels, age profile and willingness to learn and compete.
The Whites were massively let down by a lack of fight from various senior players last time out, and Molumby could come in and really stamp his authority in midfield after an impressive campaign with the Baggies.
With the Baggies facing increasing financial pressure this summer and the impending confirmation of Roca’s exit, the door has now been left wide open for Leeds United to make their statement swoop.
In other Leeds United news, one Whites player has been given extra holiday time amid a Thorp Arch update.
