Dominic Matteo: Tyler Roberts is one to watch out for
Tyler Roberts impressed against Chelsea on Saturday and Dominic Matteo suggests he has a lot more to offer Leeds United.
Alan Shearer named the midfielder in his Team of the Week for his display at the weekend and the Welshman almost won the game with a first-half strike that hit the bar.
It is the first time he has received recognition from such a prestigious pundit and the praise has continued since.
Matteo liked what he saw from the 22-year-old and though he admits he was unsure about Roberts, he now believes he could have a big role to play for the Whites.
“Another young one to watch is Tyler Roberts,” Matteo told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“He had a good chance against Chelsea and did a bit better. I was starting to wonder if he was good enough but he impressed on Saturday, playing with a bit more freedom.

“I think he’s got more to offer. He’s got ability, I’d just like more consistency from him because that brings more game time.
“Certain players like playing against better teams and at a higher level, they find it easier and they embrace it. Hopefully he will be one of those.”
Inconsistent season
Roberts has struggled for game time this season so was always going to take a while to get up and running in the Premier League.
He has finally received his chance, starting each of the last five games, and we are now beginning to see the rewards.
The youngster was positive on and off the ball and made runs throughout which unsettled the Chelsea backline.
He looked to support Patrick Bamford and that is just what we need when his teammates are not on form – Jack Harrison and Raphinha both underwhelmed against Chelsea.
Roberts now has seven league starts this season but we back him to play more until the end of the campaign, particularly with Rodrigo picking up another injury.
If he does he could begin to stamp his authority on the team.
The best way to do that is to chip in with goals but his attacking movement against Chelsea and West Ham indicates he is not far away.
His goals in both of those games were disallowed but Roberts is growing in confidence and his first Premier League goal is surely close.
