Dominic Calvert-Lewin England claim emerges as Leeds United striker in conversation
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to be on people’s lips as Leeds United drew 1-1 against Sunderland in the Premier League on Sunday.
Daniel Farke’s team secured a point at the Stadium of Light, with the England international equalising for the Whites in the 47th minute.
Calvert-Lewin has made history at Elland Road, becoming the first player to score in six consecutive games for the West Yorkshire outfit in the Premier League.
With the former Everton star showing no signs of slowing down, Thomas Tuchel will certainly have a decision to make for the 2026 World Cup.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin must sustain Leeds United form to achieve World Cup dream
Paul Robinson doesn’t think Calvert-Lewin will be part of England’s World Cup squad just yet.
The former Whites goalkeeper believes that the 28-year-old will be in the conversation if he continues his red-hot form at Elland Road.
With Ollie Watkins, one of the contenders to be part of Tuchel’s team, scoring a brace against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Aston Villa 2-1 victory, it remains to be seen who ends up being Harry Kane’s backup.
Speaking on the USA Network on 28 December, when asked whether he would take Calvert-Lewin to the World Cup, Robinson said, “Not at the moment. If he keeps scoring goals like he is, he’s going to put himself in the conversation. He keeps doing that; he’s going to be in the conversation, be on people’s lips in the next few weeks.”
The ex shot-stopper added, “Watkins came off the bench yesterday, got two goals to his name. There are a few contenders, but there’s nobody at the moment that’s a standout contender if England are without Kane.”
Tuchel won’t be able to ignore Clavert-Lewin for long, and his current form warrants a place on the plane to Canada, Mexico and the USA.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin competition assessed for 2026 World Cup
Theo Walcott believes Calvert-Lewin should be part of England’s World Cup squad, with the centre-forward among the options.
Watkins has been part of the Three Lions’ squad for a while, but the Villa striker’s form has dipped this season.
Dominic Solanke is another option, but the Tottenham forward has hardly played in the current campaign due to fitness issues, and Liam Delap has gone through a similar situation at Chelsea.
Danny Welbeck has also done well in recent months at Brighton, while Ivan Toney has shown his prolificity at Al-Ahli, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Calvert-Lewin take the edge over the rest of the options if he can stay fit and sharp until next summer.
