Dom Matteo hails ‘outstanding’ Leeds United ace after what he has done
Dom Matteo has singled out Daniel James as one of the key men for Leeds United as they prepare to face Leicester, with his finishing coming in for particular praise.
The former Leeds man claimed James’ finishing has been outstanding this season and that he has helped the team to be more balanced when he’s played.
Matteo also suggested that Daniel Farke may have been supporting James with some advice, and compared it to what David O’Leary used to do with the strikers at the club.

Matteo was speaking to LUTV on 3 November, ahead of the Leicester City clash, when he shared: “I think Dan James as well, we look more balanced when he plays. His finishing is absolutely outstanding.
“Maybe the manager has just given him a little bit of advice on that because I think it’s important you do that.
“I remember David O’Leary used to take the strikers aside and give them information about when you get into those areas, don’t be scared to take your shots and put it away. Dan James has done that.”
A resurgence for Leeds
James’ impressive displays this season have been one of the highlights for Leeds so far. His speed and positioning are something everybody has been aware of, but one criticism has always been his lack of end product. It’s that area in which he has drastically improved this year.
With three goals and four assists in 12 Championship appearances so far, Farke’s influence on his game has been clear. He looks more confident going forward and has shown an ability to slow down his play and make the right choice when faced with an opportunity.

The Welshman averages 2.79 shots per game, and as Matteo suggested, he has not been afraid to take on those opportunities. While he has missed three chances this season, it shows his positioning has been positive. [Sofascore]
An average of 2.0 key passes per game also shows a marked improvement in the way he brings his opponents into play, where he has previously appeared to rush and panic. Farke’s advice has certainly improved him so far, and they will be looking to keep pushing forward.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has suggested one key player could miss an extended period through injury.
