Djed Spence signing soon to be confirmed with medical happening Wednesday, says Phil Hay
Tottenham right-back Djed Spence is undergoing his Leeds United medical and could complete his move on Wednesday, according to Phil Hay.
Writing via The Athletic’s live transfer column (29 August), Hay reported that he expected the loan switch of the 23-year-old to be “completed within the next 24 hours.”
The former Nottingham Forest loanee’s temporary transfer to Elland Road is set to cost the Whites a fee of around £1million, and won’t include any obligation or option to make the deal permanent.
Big move
The last time Spence moved to a Championship club on loan, that club won promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs, and supporters will be hoping that he can repeat his Nottingham Forest heroics with Leeds. Not only was he a part of the Forest side that went up during the 2021/22 campaign, but he was crucial to their success and at times unplayable.
His performances were so impressive that they earned him a switch to one of the Premier League’s ‘big six,’ although life at Tottenham has not been plain sailing for him. Throughout the course of last season, he struggled for game time under Antonio Conte and was sent out on loan to French side Rennes.

Nonetheless, he is still a young player full of quality who will be hungry to show what he is capable of once again after spending so long on the sidelines. This could play right into the hands of Daniel Farke as he looks to guide the Whites back to England’s top flight.
In other Leeds United news, Hay has also reported that a deal is now dead for a midfielder the club were keen to sign.
