From Elland Road: Djed Spence spotted with Leeds United squad as early team news v Swansea emerges

Djed Spence has been spotted arriving with the Leeds United squad for the Championship clash with Swansea at Elland Road.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (29 November), journalist Graham Smyth reports that the right-back has arrived having missed the last nine weeks with a knee injury.

Spence has only played once for the Whites since joining on loan from Tottenham in the summer, but could now be set for his first start for the club in a highly-anticipated game.

“Djed Spence here with the squad,” he wrote.

Huge

This is a huge boost for Leeds United in a major game in the club’s hunt for promotion from the Championship into the Premier League.

Spence was signed by the club in the summer to bolster the full-back options available to Daniel Farke, with Cody Drameh allowed to leave as a result.

But he almost immediately picked up an injury and Farke has instead opted to use Archie Gray and Jamie Shackleton as makeshift options instead of using Luke Ayling.

Now Spence is fit again and available, he could add a whole new dimension to the squad out wide and allow Gray to be able to move back into his preferred central midfield position too.

He’s earned his opportunity through training and also his reputation at this level in his career, and now it’s time to show why he deserves the spot and the hassle we went through to sign him ahead of so many other clubs.
