Disgraceful footage of Leeds United incident emerges from win v Norwich as Georginio Rutter robbed

Footage has emerged from the Leeds United and Norwich City clash on 24 January that clearly shows Georginio Rutter being robbed of a goal.

The Whites ended up winning the game 1-0 but there was late drama in the contest and the Canaries had a free kick which they sent everyone forward, including their keeper.

Leeds ended up defending the set play extremely well and then the ball fell to Rutter, who stole a march on the Norwich players in the Whites half and appeared clean through on the opposition goal.

However, the referee Matthew Donohue, instead of giving the hosts the advantage and waving play on, he pulled it back for a free kick.

As the footage clearly reveals, if the Frenchman had been allowed to carry on, he would be walking the ball into an empty net as he was faster than goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

It was disgraceful officiating and had Norwich somehow scored in the dying stages, it would’ve been the biggest robbery of the season.

Referees are told to allow the game to flow and this was the complete opposite by Donohue who certainly annoyed the Elland Road support as well.

That said, these were three crucial points for Leeds and they’re now just two points off the top two – a fantastic position to be in at this stage of the season.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that the Whites are seriously considering acceptable offers for one player with a new signing on the cards.
