Dean Jones: Leeds want at least £60million for Raphinha
Leeds United ace Raphinha is attracting attention from some of the Premier League’s bigwigs, and it appears the club will not stop him from leaving.
The Brazil international, 24, moved to Elland Road from Rennes for £17million in the summer of 2020 [BBC], but he has seen his value and worth skyrocket, and Eurosport transfer expert Dean Jones claims the club want at least £60million to sell him.
Raphinha has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, and he is bound to attract more suitors this summer.
However, they must be willing to part with top dollar to have a chance of luring him away from Leeds.
Jones told Give Me Sport: “You’ll be getting at least £50m for him and from what I understand, Leeds will be looking for at least £60m.”
Leeds are comfortably making triple of what they paid Rennes for Raphinha if they get between £50million and £60million for his signature, and it is unlikely that clubs will baulk at such a fee.
The South American has five Premier League goals in 10 games this term after ending his maiden campaign in the top-flight with six goals and nine assists, and with Patrick Bamford out injured, he has had to get hold of the Whites by the scruff of the neck.
Losing such an influential player will be a huge blow for Leeds, but they could struggle to hold on to him if their fortunes on the pitch fail to improve.
Raphinha’s suitors can offer him the chance to win silverware every season, play Champions League football and also double his current wages at Elland Road, and not many would blame him if he wants to move on.
Getting great value for his services will help soften the blow for Leeds, and £60million is without a doubt a decent fee.
