David Villa and Raphinha swoon over two-goal Rodrigo after Burnley display
Leeds United star Rodrigo grabbed the plaudits from some reputable figures after he blew Burnley away with two goals on Saturday.
The Spaniard shared his delight with his double on Instagram and teammate Raphinha was joined in his praise for Rodrigo by Spain and Barcelona legend David Villa.
Kalvin Phillips, Robin Koch and Diego Llorente also commented under the 30-year-old’s post, but none were more vocal than Raphinha.
He wrote, “Nobody will be able to delay who was born to win”.
Meanwhile, Villa posted clapping emojis and Rodrigo’s other teammates offered their recognition with various emojis of their own.
Return to form
Rodrigo was clearly delighted with his goal and we could not be more pleased for him.
It is fair to say he has faced his fair share of troubles this season, the height of which came against Chelsea in March when he was subbed on and subbed off in the same game.
Since then he has faced a spell on the sidelines too, but made up for lost time with a goal against Tottenham last week and two at Turf Moor this weekend.
He showed his class in taking his goals too and a real striking instinct.
Patrick Bamford got short change out of the game but Rodrigo showed how it is done, so it is a little strange he has barely played as a striker this year.
If he continues this form until the end of the season it could make Marcelo Bielsa reconsider his role in the squad.
In turn, that could lead Victor Orta to focus on signing a new attacking midfielder, rather than a centre-forward.
Rodrigo De Paul, anyone?
In other Leeds United news, Darren Fletcher and a BT pundit were left in awe of an ‘excellent’ Leeds star v Burnley.
