David Stowell reveals Leeds United’s dismal disciplinary record despite crucial draw against Brighton
Sky Sports commentator David Stowell highlights indiscipline as one of the primary reasons for Leeds United’s dismal campaign.
Centre-back Liam Cooper received a yellow card in the 84th minute for a challenge on Brighton & Hove Albion player.
While commentating during the match, Stowell highlighted that was the 101st yellow card received by a Leeds player, most by any team in a single season in England’s top-flight football.

“Leeds have received more than 100 cards in the season, most by any team in a single edition in the Premier League,” he said on the Premier League World Feed on Sunday (15 May). “And that is the yellow card number 101 received by Cooper.”
Responding to that, his fellow commentator and Sheffield United Women player Courtney Sweetman-Kirk said: “That is not the kind of stats you want to hear about your team.”

Lifeline
Despite having some disciplinary issues on the field, Leeds United still are very much alive in the race to avoid the drop, thanks to an injury-time equaliser from young centre-back Pascal Struijk.
That result pushed the Whites out of the drop zone, at least for now, with 35 points, a point ahead of 18th-placed Burnley who still have two more games to go.
If Leeds will go down, disciplinary issues can be identified as one of the primary reasons, especially in the latter half of the campaign where in the midst of an intense relegation battle and battling with a number of injuries, suspensions key players like experienced Luke Ayling and young winger Daniel James only made it tougher for the coaching staff to find solutions.
Despite a good result on Sunday, Leeds will still want to go and win their last match against Brentford which will be played on May 22 at the Brentford Community Stadium to keep their destiny in their own hands.
