David Seaman predicts result of Leeds United clash v Watford

David Seaman is backing Leeds United to pick up all three points against Watford this weekend, and thinks they’ll clinch safety in the process.

The Whites are currently six points above the relegation zone having played 31 games, and take on 19th placed Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Seaman, who came through the Leeds academy and is a big fan of the club, believes victory will be enough to secure their Premier League status next season and with Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper available again, he predicted a 2-1 win on his Seaman Says podcast.

“Next up is Watford against Leeds,” he said.

“I was watching highlights of the game and to see Phillips come on and get the reception he got. Cooper is back too, Bamford is out but they have got a good strikeforce now.

“But I was really confident until Ward-Prowse stepped up and I was like ‘no! Don’t give him a free-kick just outside the area’ and he produced another belter.

“If Leeds win this I think they are safe, so I am going to go for a 2-1 Leeds win.”

Big win

The recent form of the Leeds team has been a huge upswing from what we had seen in previous months and Jesse Marsch has almost guaranteed safety now.

But with the teams below still having games in hand, the players and fans can’t afford to be complacent with their results just yet.

By beating Watford though, they will essentially confirm the Hornets’ relegation back to the Championship and that means it’s far less likely for them to go down themselves.

Roy Hodgson’s side will know that though and they will be fired up and hungry to keep their hopes alive, but Marsch has got big players fit again and the team look much more structured.

A big win over Watford essentially ends their relegation battle so long as they don’t completely sink in the remaining six games and would be a brilliant moment for fans to rejoice.
