David Prutton warns Leeds of ‘hugely influential’ Swansea threat they must ‘keep an eye on’

David Prutton has warned Leeds United that they must “keep an eye” on Swansea City striker Rhian Brewster when the two sides meet on Sunday afternoon.

The 20-year-old has been in fine form for the Welsh side since arriving on loan from Liverpool in January, hitting eight goals in 16 Championship outings.

And Prutton believes that the Whites must be on red alert to stop him from throwing a spanner in the works for their automatic promotion push.

Writing in a column for the Yorkshire Evening Post, he said: “Leeds go to Swansea tomorrow and Liverpool loanee Rhian Brewster is a player that Leeds have got to keep an eye on. Since arriving in January he has been hugely influential.

“From manager Steve Cooper’s point of view, it’s about development but he understands he has got a young team and is working day by day to improve them.

“From Leeds’ point of view you would absolutely expect them to get the points they need to take them up now.

“In this position, and this isn’t tempting fate, it’s the ideal position to be in if you are hunting down automatic promotion.”

There’s no doubting that Brewster is a danger man for Swansea.

The youngster has been in red hot form of late, and with four goals in five matches since the restart, it’s clear that he is one to watch out for.

So far this season, he has a shot accuracy that its 4.2% better than Patrick Bamford’s, as per Wyscout, as well as scoring 0.15 more goals per 90 minutes.

With 1.28 more dribbles per game too, he is a constant bundle of energy, and keeping him under wraps could be key to Leeds picking up three points here.

If they can get the result, however, and we are all hoping and praying for that outcome, then it would be a huge step towards securing promotion.

On paper, this and Derby County are the two toughest fixtures we have left, and overcome one of those hurdles would be a significant boost.
