David Prutton shares ‘interesting’ Leeds United transfer admission in Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter verdict

David Prutton has admitted that it will be “interesting” to see what happens to “highly coveted” Leeds United stars Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville during the January transfer window.

The Whites’ attacking duo have been in incredible form for Daniel Farke’s side this season, scoring a combined 16 goals and producing 15 assists as Leeds continue to fight for the Championship’s automatic promotion places.

Summerville and Rutter’s performances this season have earned them a place in Sky Sports’ team of the season so far, but host Prutton believes there will be plenty of interest in the pair before the end of the transfer window.

Speaking on Sky Sports (10 January, 4:10) he said: “Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, Rutter weighed down heavily by the price tag in the Premier League, but one of the ones that is flourishing in the Championship.

“Summerville who has got the kind of pace and flair to scare any opposition defence. Again, two very highly coveted players that January will be really interesting for.”

Wait and see

Leeds United don’t want to lose any of their key players before the end of the month. While that may seem obvious, a number of Championship sides have been forced to cut their cloth accordingly to balance their books and remain within financial fair play restrictions.

The Whites don’t have that issue having had such a big clearout during the summer transfer window and they are now in a financial position where they should be able to keep their key stars at Elland Road for the second half of the campaign.

There will still be interest in the likes of Rutter and Summerville before the end of the month as their performances won’t have gone unnoticed by Premier League and European teams in the opening months of the season.

But the Whites should be able to put the brakes on any potential exit and at least delay transfer talks until the end of the campaign. If Farke’s side miss out on promotion, however, they are going to face a battle to keep Summerville and Rutter in the Championship for another year.
