David Prutton sends message to Leeds United players ahead of game v Millwall

David Prutton has sent a message to the Leeds United players ahead of the game against Millwall on Sunday (17 September).

Speaking on the Championships Predictions Podcast on Thursday (14 September), the Sky Sports presenter called upon the Whites’ players to “pull their fingers out” when they make the trip to The Den.

He believes it will be “very tough” against a Lions side that has “plenty of fight” under Gary Rowett, but that it will be a “cracking game” in South London.

“Having played in it, it is more than tasty,” said Sky Sports EFL host Prutton. “There is a real edge to it. It will be a cracking game as a spectacle.

“But Leeds, all the faffing about with players, all the consignation about who’s there and who’s not, who wants to stay there and who’s moved on, all these ridiculous statements coming out from players that have moved on. Now is the time for the people that have been left to pull their fingers out.

“It’ll be tough, a very tough one against a Millwall side that, as we’ve seen, have got plenty of fight in them in regards to how they’re led by Gary Rowett.”

Time to stand up

It’s now time for the players that remained at Elland Road to stand up and make themselves accounted for as Leeds look to put a solid run together.

Daniel Farke had a less-than-ideal start to the summer transfer window, having seen a number of first-team players move on to other clubs after exercising clauses in their contracts.

But things started to come together towards the end of August as he got some new additions through the door and he’ll now be looking to push on.

The game at Millwall will certainly present a challenge and will provide the Whites boss with an insight into where his side are currently at against a solid Championship outfit.

There will likely be a real edge to the contest, as Prutton alluded to, so they will have to try and strike the balance between showing plenty of fight but also composure in the key moments to come away with a positive result.
