David Prutton reveals the ‘bigger tick’ Jaidon Anthony has over Luis Sinisterra at Leeds United

Jaidon Anthony’s experience of the Championship gives him a “bigger tick” over Luis Sinisterra as does the fact he actually wants to be at Leeds United, says Sky Sports pundit David Prutton.

Sinisterra had angled for a move away from Elland Road throughout the window but it was not until deadline day that the Colombia international sealed his exit when he joined Premier League Bournemouth on loan.

In return, the Whites took Anthony on loan for the 2023-24 campaign, and Prutton – writing in his column for the Yorkshire Evening Post – believes Leeds have done some solid business.

Leeds United

“In Jaidon, Leeds have got someone who seems like a good solid young pro, a player that has operated at this level and been promoted at this level. He’s definitely not to be to be sniffed and you can’t really use Sinisterra as an example in comparing the two,” Prutton wrote.

“We have only seen Sinisterra score once in the Championship and he might have got five in the Premier League but there’s nothing to compare him to. With Jaidon, we have seen him get a decent number of games under his belt in the Championship which ended up with promotion and that’s a bigger tick at this level then Sinisterra ever was.

“More pertinently and probably more importantly, he is a player that wants to be in the door at Leeds and helping out in the door at Leeds rather than having one eye on getting out. He’s a fantastic age, he’s got a lot of decent football under his belt and even the take on it from the boss down at Bournemouth was almost like a glowing reference moving forward with regards to how he saw him as a player and a person.”

Time will tell

The most important, and fair, point raised here by Prutton is the fact that Luis Sinisterra just clearly did not want to be at Elland Road anymore.

Well, if that’s the case then quite simply, there’s the door, try not to let it hit you on the way out.

Leeds are trying to get promoted straight back to the Premier League, if a player has not got the heart for the fight or the desire to try and achieve that aim then frankly they should be nowhere near the club.

Which is why Jaidon Anthony coming in is a good thing. He could have stayed put and earned the odd minute or so in the Premier League but instead he has joined Leeds, and the Whites have a 23-year-old forward with 50 Championship appearances to his name and a promotion on his CV.

Only time will tell, of course, how good or bad Leeds’ business was this summer but this one looks like it was a pretty smart play by the club.
