David Prutton predicts result of Leeds United showdown with Coventry City for Sky Sports as ‘disastrous’ verdict shared

Sky Sports host David Prutton has shared his predictions as Leeds United play host to Coventry City at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon (16 December).

The Whites will be looking to return to winning ways on home turf when they take on a resurgent Coventry after their disappointing defeat to Sunderland on Tuesday (12 December) damaged their automatic promotion hunt in their first defeat in eight games.

Daniel Farke’s men host a Coventry side improving again under Mark Robins after a tepid start to the season and Prutton, sharing his predictions for Sky Sports (14 December) predicts the home side to bounce back after a “disastrous” defeat.

Leeds United

He said: “Leeds have as many points after 21 games as Burnley did last season. The difference is that the Clarets did not have to contend with the runaway pace of Leicester and Ipswich, which has made setbacks like the one at Sunderland in midweek seem disastrous.

“Coventry are ticking along and improving. They were held by Southampton in midweek, and it will be interesting to see how much chasing around against the Saints will have taken out of them as they head to Elland Road.

“But I’m tipping Leeds to bounce back and win.

“Prediction: 2-1.”

Redemption

Farke and his men will certainly be looking for redemption on Saturday when they take on Coventry after their rare disaster against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

A Leeds United side possessing bags of quality and experience looked totally bereft of ideas and imagination in the final third as a managerless Sunderland side completely shut them out so easily.

Leeds are unlucky in the fact that Ipswich and Leicester are winning every week and getting serious slices of luck, but they have also earned that, something the Whites didn’t do in midweek.

However, Farke will certainly know what separates his team from the top two and that’s a ruthless edge even when the going gets tough and that’s something Leeds United did not do on Tuesday.

The Whites face off against a resurgent Coventry side at Elland Road who have enjoyed a decent run of form in recent weeks, with one defeat in their last five games, but their away form leaves a lot to be desired with just two wins from their 10 games.

Leeds United surely cannot let it slip again this time around. A must-win.
