David Prutton destroys Leeds United chiefs amid ‘pathetic’ scenario at Elland Road
David Prutton has destroyed Leeds United for their handling of the managerial merry-go-round at Elland Road during the 2022/23 season.
Jesse Marsch, Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce were all given the chance in West Yorkshire during the 2022/23 season. Allardyce was considered for the role after Marsch’s sacking before the job was given to Gracia.
Writing in his column for the Yorkshire Evening Post on Saturday 17 June, Prutton believes it was a “ridiculous” way to go about their business.

But Leeds need to be proactive in getting someone in who is ready to roll and not be reactive, reactive in the sense that they were with Javi Gracia coming in and reactive in the sense that Sam Allardyce was evidently initially not deemed good enough when Javi came in but suddenly Javi was suddenly rubbish and Sam was good enough,” he said.
“That’s pathetic, a ridiculous way to go about it and it doesn’t do anything for what fans regard as the stature of their football club.”
Quite right – but blame Orta
Prutton is bang on, however, he should be directing his blame at Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani. Leeds’ outgoing owner was clearly heavily influenced by Orta.
And, When taking a deeper look at the Spaniard’s work at Elland Road, it looks for fairly grim reading.
Let’s take last summer for example. The one real success story is Tyler Adams. He will make the club a significant sum if he departs during the summer.

Luis Sinisterra has been an average addition at best. Rasmus Kristensen has been desperately poor considering the reputation he arrived with. The same can be said for Marc Roca.
Max Wober has been a mediocre addition and Georginio Rutter’s club-record move to Elland Road is shaping up to be a £30million-plus mistake. Willy Gnonto looked like an excellent addition but fizzled out of contention towards the end of the season.
The less said about Orta’s influence on the managerial situation in West Yorkshire the better.
In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
