David Ornstein delivers ‘written transfer request’ update on Leeds United ace Wilfried Gnonto as £25m Everton bid rejected
Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto has submitted a written transfer request in an attempt to secure a move away from Elland Road, according to David Ornstein.
Writing in The Athletic (18 August), the reliable journalist reported that Leeds continue to insist their 19-year-old forward is not for sale, although the Italy international has now made his desire to leave official.
The Whites have knocked back multiple approaches from Everton, with the most recent bid being a £25million package, including add-ons and a sell-on clause.
Sean Dyche’s side are now prepared to return with an improved offer.
Sell
It is time for the club to accept their fate and bring an end to this transfer saga. After receiving an official transfer request, it will be hard for Daniel Farke to reintegrate Gnonto back into the squad with the relationship between the player and the West Yorkshire side clearly now damaged beyond repair.
Taking the money and moving on would be the smart move and would still represent a financial victory. It is clear that the forward does not want to be there and Farke needs committed players in order to have any chance of success this season.

There is no doubt that the youngster is an incredible talent but no player is bigger than the club and his antics cannot be rewarded with a place in the team.
And if he isn’t going to play, it is an expensive asset to have sitting in the reserves. As frustrating as it might be, now is the time to sell.
In other Leeds United news, another player has been linked with an exit to a Championship rival.
