David Moyes thrilled by Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams for his performance v England

David Moyes wrote for The Times that Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams was the best player on the pitch as the USA drew 0-0 against England last Saturday (26 November).

The Hammers boss is writing a weekly column for the newspaper during the World Cup, and he was left impressed by Adams during the game against England.

Although he agrees with the American supporters that Adams was the best player on the pitch, the Hammers boss doesn’t think that the USA were the better side against England on that day.

“I was in Florida when the game was played and saw the American reaction,” wrote Moyes for The Times.

“They felt they were the better team and that Tyler Adams was the best player on the pitch. I agree about Adams (Tim Ream was excellent too) but actually thought England, for all that they weren’t at their best, were still the superior side.”

Qualification

Despite the draw, England are still better placed to qualify for the knock-out rounds. They need a win or a draw against Wales to seal their passage to the round of 16.

On the other hand, Gregg Berhalter’s side need to beat Iran in their final game to seal their progress into the next round.

Adams has been receiving rave reviews for his outstanding performance against England and rightly so. He marshaled the midfield with great aplomb and kept the likes of Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham quiet during the game.

He joined the Whites in the summer transfer window from RB Leipzig and has quickly become a key player under Jesse Marsch at the Yorkshire club.

The 23-year-old has forged a strong midfield partnership with Marc Roca at Leeds, and it’s really good to see that his talent is being praised by pundits and other managers.

Adams showed his leadership capability when he addressed some difficult questions from an Iranian journalist with great composure. The manner in which he handled those tough questions shows his ability to tackle pressure, both on and off the pitch.

In other Leeds United news, we can exclusively reveal that a takeover by the 49ers could be done within weeks.
