David Moyes makes decision as West Ham chief recommends Leeds United ace WIlly Gnonto

David Moyes disagreed with the view of West Ham chief Tim Steidten who recommended Leeds United attacker Willy Gnonto, according to James Nursery.

The Mirror journalist claimed on Thursday (3 August) that the Italy international was wanted by Steidten, but Moyes rejected the opportunity to sign him.

The 19-year-old has been linked with the exit door after not getting enough first-team chances last season coupled with the club’s relegation.

Via Twitter, Nursery wrote, “I’ve also heard big problems between Moyes & technical director Tim Steidten. TS recommended players like Edson Alvarez, Elye Wahi, P Schuss, F Torres, Kerkez, Amrabat, Ekitike, B Meijer, M Leonardo, N Jackson, D Rensche, Gnonto, Beto, C Alcatraz, & A Veliz but DM not keen & wants full control.”

Good for Leeds

The Hammers are looking at a left-sided attacker and Gnonto would’ve been a pretty good signing for them and perhaps been a regular starter too.

They wanted Carlos Borges from Manchester City and even that didn’t end up happening as he’s now joined Ajax permanently.

However, them not wanting him will only mean good news for Leeds as they’ll want to keep Gnonto for at least another season.

West Ham would offer him continental football and maybe even higher wages but Moyes seems to be having other ideas.

With the season right around the corner, Daniel Farke certainly will want clarity on Gnonto’s future and could even tell him that his window to leave as expired.

Still only 19, being in the second tier for one season will not really have an adverse impact on the attacker’s future.

In other Leeds United news, an update has emerged on the club’s pursuit to sign two centre-backs this summer with a winger now on the radar as well.
