David Brooks update as Leeds United want to seal late January loan at Elland Road
Bournemouth have been in “two minds” about allowing David Brooks to leave on loan amid January interest from Leeds United, according to Phil Hay.
The Athletic journalist reported [17 January] that, although the Cherries are unsure about letting the Welshman out on loan this January, their transfer stance could soften as the January window progresses.
With two weeks of the transfer window remaining, Daniel Farke will have several spots in his squad that he wants to fill as Leeds continue to target promotion back to the Premier League.

“David Brooks is another player of interest and though Bournemouth have been in two minds about whether they might be willing to let someone borrow him, their position on retaining the 26-year-old Wales international could soften as the window enters its closing stages,” Hay wrote.
Young prospect
A loan move for Brooks could be a deal that suits all parties if Bournemouth are willing to let him go until the season of the season.
Working his way back to full fitness and match sharpness, the 26-year-old has struggled to force his way back into the Cherries squad, with Antoine Semenyo stealing the right wing spot.
However, the player has continued to impress at international level, being one of the favourites in Rob Page’s Wales squad, and already has links to Leeds with Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Dan James.

While he is unlikely to replace his Wales teammate, James, on the wing, Brooks is also capable of deputising in the attacking midfielder role, which could offer Farke an option in the position when Joel Piroe is lacking goals.
Brooks has made just two league starts this season under Andoni Iraola, which is why a loan move is crucial for the 26-year-old, especially if he wants to start in Wales’ all-important play-off matches to reach Euro 2024.
