Kalvin Phillips has told the Leeds United board that he wants to sign a new contract at Elland Road this summer.

That's according to the Mirror journalist, David Anderson, who has shared the fresh message for the Whites hierarchy.

Leeds fans were starting to sweat with no real updates on the Yorkshire Pirlo in months, with this now described as a fresh "big boost."

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Anderson has shared the major update on Wednesday afternoon [30 March].

"Big boost for Leeds after Kalvin Phillips tells the board he wants to sign a new deal in the summer," he wrote today.

Wow.

Here we go, this is the news that we were all waiting for.

It looks as though we may have to wait until the summer until the new contract is signed and announced, but it will be worth it.

After being out since December and being set to return against Southampton on Saturday, Phillips will want to concentrate on matters on the pitch for the rest of the season.

The Yorkshire Pirlo looks to have given his promise now after months of sweating around Elland Road, and that is perfect.

Phillips deserves it too, he deserves to be the highest-paid player at the club having risen through the ranks, and hopefully, Andrea Radrizzani has promised that back.

We can accept players such as Raphinha coming in and being sold for profit eventually, that is how football works.

But, you have to keep your homegrown best talents and build your team around them - that is Phillips.
