Date revealed as Leeds United senior sources expect Daniel Farke to be sacked

Daniel Farke is on the brink of the sack at Leeds United.

Despite goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, Leeds fell to a 3-2 defeat away to Man City on Saturday.

The loss means that the Whites have just one win on the road this season, with Farke having won just nine away games in his career as a Premier League manager.

However, Leeds have two games at Elland Road to attend to next, and they could prove crucial in the German’s future.

Daniel Farke could be sacked within a week

Leeds host Chelsea at Elland Road on Wednesday, before returning to home soil to face Liverpool just a few days later as the festive period gets into full swing.

Given the Whites’ form this season, you’d be forgiven for not expecting a point out of either of those games, though, if that were to be the case, it could spell the end for Farke.

According to the Guardian on Monday, senior figures at Leeds are expecting the German to be sacked if he loses both games in the next week.

It’s claimed that sources at Elland Road have “privately conceded” that Farke’s fate is in the balance, while there are some beliefs that results have not always reflected the performances.

Defeats to Chelsea and Liverpool could see the 49ers sack Farke as early as 6 December, potentially leaving them managerless for the busiest period of the campaign.

Carlos Corberan is in the running for the Leeds job should Farke be sacked, with his time at Valencia looking dull, having joined just under a year ago.

They sit 16th in La Liga, with fans growing increasingly frustrated at the lack of progression made under the former West Brom boss.

Marco Rose and Brendan Rodgers are two other names believed to be under consideration by the 49ers, with the latter having left Celtic in November as a result of their drop in form.

However, it’s clear that Leeds need a succession plan in place, as they simply can’t afford to wait for a replacement in such a crucial period of the season.
