Darren Bent shares Joel Piroe concern in Leeds United promotion verdict
Darren Bent has identified forward Joel Piroe as his main concern as Leeds United aim for promotion from the Championship this season.
The Dutchman has featured regularly under Daniel Farke and chipped in with some crucial goals, helping his side reach the top of the league.

However, Bent has identified Piroe as the one position in the team he is concerned about despite claiming that Leeds are still “one of the favourites” to achieve promotion to the Premier League.
Speaking on talkSPORT (25 November, 6:40 pm) he said: “The one position I’m a little bit like ‘ooh, I’m not sure’ is Piroe up front, Joel Piroe. I mean, he’s got six goals, but I just feel like… I think he could do more. Certainly, in the games that I’ve seen, I think he could do a little bit more.
“But I still put Leeds right up there in one of the favourites to go up.”
Leeds United need to sign a striker in January
There is no doubt that Leeds have one of, if not the strongest squad in the Championship but one area they could improve is the striking department.
Many of the Whites’ goals come from wide areas with Dan James starting to contribute while Willy Gnonto has remained a goal threat throughout his time at Elland Road.
Piroe and Mateo Joseph are often switched for one another but neither have been able to impress on a consistent basis and Leeds need that striker they can rely on.

Granted, January transfers pose a huge challenge to clubs looking to do business with inflated prices but it could be the difference between promotion and not for Farke’s side.
The ambitions of the club will be heavily tested when the window approaches with other promotion chasers more than likely hoping to add quality to their squad and Leeds simply cannot afford to rest on their laurels.
