Darren Bent and Andy Goldstein share Daniel Farke sack verdict at Leeds United live on talkSPORT

Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent have shared their verdict on suggestions that Leeds United should sack Daniel Farke, describing the calls as “madness”.

The Whites slipped to fourth in the Championship following their defeat to Preston on Boxing Day and now lie eight points adrift of Ipswich Town in second and 14 behind table toppers Leicester City after 24 games.

Leeds’ defeat at Deepdale has seen some supporters call for the German to be sacked at Elland Road, with Carlos Corberan the desired replacement, but both Goldstein and Bent believe it would be “madness” to sack Farke.

Speaking on talkSPORT (29 December, 16:40) he said: “Quite a lot of Leeds fans have been calling, I don’t know why, for the West Brom coach Carlos Corberan to be brought in and Daniel Farke to be sacked. I think that’s madness, what do you make of that?”

Bent replied saying: “It’s a bit of a weird one that they want him because you look at West Brom as well, their form is patchy as well. They beat Norwich in the last game, but before that, they lost to Middlesbrough, drew with Stoke

“Yeah, they beat Rotherham but lost to Sunderland, lost to Leicester. It’s not like he’s pulling up trees. I do like Carlos Corberan, he’s a good manager, but that surprises me that.”

Madness

Some Leeds United supporters will rightly be feeling a little bit frustrated following the Whites’ defeat to Preston North End on Boxing Day, but only days ago they were praising Farke for masterminding the win over Ipswich Town.

The Championship is an incredibly tough division and teams are always going to go through periods of mixed form. Leeds’ recent defeat couldn’t have come at a much worse time but calls for Farke to be sacked already are nothing short of madness.

Such shouts have only come from incredibly small sections of the Leeds fanbase, but it is hard to imagine that Corberan would be better equipped to manage this team to promotion than the man already in post at Elland Road.

Farke is a master of getting teams promoted to the Premier League and while Leeds may be slightly behind the league leaders currently, there is still plenty of football to be played between now and the end of the Championship campaign.

Given time, Farke will get Leeds clicking again and the defeat to Preston will be little more than a bump in the road.
