Danny Murphy shares Brendan Rodgers Leeds United verdict amid Celtic development
Danny Murphy wouldn’t blame Brendan Rodgers for choosing the Celtic managerial job over the vacant role at Leeds United.
Rodgers is without a job having been sacked by Leicester City earlier this year, with the Foxes later relegated from the Premier League.
But his next destination may already be decided, with Celtic in advanced talks with Rodgers over a return to the club, according to Sky Sports.

“As a player and a manager, sometimes you might want a fresh challenge and to move on from a club, but you can only choose an option that’s on the table,” Murphy said live on talkSPORT. “You can’t make them up.
“So if Leeds and Celtic are his only choices and if he doesn’t want to manage in the Championship – which I don’t blame him for, who knows what can happen in that league whoever you are – Celtic are probably the better option.”

Challenging league
It is definitely very true that the Championship is one of the toughest leagues in the world, but Leeds don’t need any reminders about that.
The Whites struggled on for several years in England’s second division before their promotion back to the Premier League, but unfortunately they find themselves back in the Championship once again.
An immediate bounce back to the top flight would definitely be made much easier with an experienced manager like Rodgers at the helm, but it seems that the Northern Irishman is set on a return to his beloved Celtic.
That means the Whites must continue their search for a new boss to take over in the Elland Road dugout ahead of the new campaign, with a long list of challenging tasks in store for whoever that may be.
Celtic meanwhile only really have city rivals to worry about in the Scottish Premiership, with most of the pressure in that job coming in European competition.
In other Leeds United news, Sky Sports has named the Leeds player who is likely to be top of the list of the Elland Road exits this summer.
