Danny Mills raves over Leeds United ace Ao Tanaka after what he’s seen

Danny Mills has praised Ao Tanaka for his start to life at Leeds United claiming that he has settled into the club well.

The 26-year-old made the move to Elland Road over the summer, joining from German side Fortuna Dusseldorf on a four-year deal.

After some early substitute appearances, Tanaka has made himself a regular in Daniel Farke’s side having started the Whites’ last eight games.

Former Leeds man Danny Mills feels this is well deserved following a bright start to life at Elland Road as he said on talkSPORT (20 November): “Tanaka looks a really good player. And his relationship with Rothwell in that midfield has been really key. They are good players, and they have energy as well.”

Good foundations built by Tanaka at Leeds

After making the move to the Championship in the summer, Tanaka has settled into life well at Leeds, making the most of injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev to become a regular fixture in the XI, something he will hope to continue as the season goes on.

As Mills alluded to, the midfielder has shown his ability to build those key relationships in the Leeds side, but going forward he must now show he is able to build upon this and push himself further.

We know that Tanaka has the ability to contribute in front of goals as we saw him register seven goals and four assists in the second tier of German football last season but he has not yet got off the mark for his new side.

That being said, he has shown progression since the start of the season and surely it will only be a matter of time until we see Tanaka further increasing the impact he has on this Leeds side.
