Danny Mills makes exciting prediction about Leeds in the Premier League

talkSPORT pundit Danny Mills has said that Leeds United would sell-out every week in the Premier League if they extended the capacity at Elland Road to 50,000.

He also said that he couldn’t see Leeds finishing lower than third this season.

Mills was talking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show and was responding to Brazil who said, “I really think it’s a two-horse race between Leeds and West Brom in the Championship.”

Mills replied, “Yeah, I’ve said all along if you finish above Leeds I think you get automatic promotion.

“They are one of the best in the Championship, they play some of the best football, their defence is superb, they just haven’t been quite clinical enough in front of goal.

“You can’t buy a ticket at Elland Road this season,” Mills continued, “it’s sold-out week-in, week-out… 35, 36 thousand plus, season tickets are all gone.

“Imagine, if they got to the Premier League. They’ve talked about extending the stadium and making it to 50,000 and they would sell that out in the Premier League week-in, week-out, no problem.”

Talking at Leeds’ recent centenary event, managing director Angus Kinnear announced the proposed development of Elland Road, as well bringing the academy into the city centre.

“In our centenary year we are very proud to announce two initiatives in partnership with the council,” Kinnear said as quoted in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“Part of it is around the stadium and taking it up to 50,000 and turning it into a true ground which can compete with other stadiums in the Premier League and in Europe.

“More importantly is what we want to do with the community. We want to bring the training ground back into the city centre, not just the training ground but the academy.”

The expansion is reliant on Leeds getting back into the Premier League.

If you’ve tried to get tickets for Leeds games you’ll know how hard it is. We’ve got absolutely no doubt that Leeds would sell out 50,000 in the Premier League for every match.

According to Statista, the expansion would make Elland Road the eighth biggest stadium in the Premier League, just below Newcastle (52,338) but ahead of Aston Villa (42,660).
