Danny Mills makes Daniel Farke Leeds United admission ahead of Norwich play-off clash

Danny Mills believes that Leeds United must stick by Daniel Farke even if they aren’t promoted to the Premier League through the play-offs this season.

It has been a largely positive season for the Whites but they must secure a win over Norwich City to have a chance at promotion.

Leeds welcome the Canaries to Elland Road on Thursday night (16 May) knowing that their season hinges on the fixture which puts pressure on everyone involved.

Speaking on talkSPORT (16 May), Mills suggested that regardless of the result, Farke’s job should remain intact ahead of next campaign.

He said: “The pressure is absolutely huge. Whether the manager stays, he has done a good job, he’s got promoted before, he finished third in the league after a bit of a wobble at the end of the season which has cost them.

“I would stick with him. When you look at the turnover of players that they’ve had in his first season at the club, he’s done incredibly well to get them where they are.

“I think no matter what they’ve got to stick with him. Who else can they bring in? Then you get another turnover of players in and then there’s no guarantee of even play offs if you do that.”

Should Daniel Farke stay at Leeds United?

Farke has had a positive season in his debut campaign with the Whites which saw him achieve a third place finish.

In any other year, since the modernisation of the Championship, their 90 point tally would be enough for automatic promotion.

After Ipswich Town and Leicester City beat them to it, Leeds have to win the Play-Offs if they want to play Premier League football next season.

There is no doubt that the remit for Farke was to achieve promotion so if his side lose to Norwich, he will have failed.

With that being said, he has been desperately unlucky to have not secured a division rise through his side’s league finish.

He has gotten a lot out of his side which has been highly switched up since they were relegated, which has to be comended.

Even if Leeds are not promoted to the Premier League, he deserves to keep his job and have a second crack at the Championship at Elland Road.
