Danny Higginbotham makes massive Pablo Hernandez claim
Sky Sports pundit Danny Higginbotham has made a massive claim about Leeds United midfielder Pablo Hernandez as the club announced he will leave at the end of the season.
After staying at the club for four seasons, Hernandez will part ways with Elland Road outfit, having guided them back to the Premier League.
Having signed on a free transfer from Al-Arabi SC, few expected the Spaniard to have the sort of impact he’s had, but it is enough for him to go down as a club legend, believes Higginbotham.
Speaking once Leeds made the announcement of his departure, Higginbotham said on Sky Sports’ Football Show, The one constant standout performer in that time was Hernandez – the year they got promoted, the year before when they missed out. He’s just been incredible.
“People talk about Leeds United in the Championship, and there was a lot of pressure on them then. Every single season they were expected to be challenging, and he was the one constant.
“He is truly incredible, and he’s been a fantastic player, a fantastic servant, and he’ll go down in history as a real Leeds United great.”
We agree with him
The magician, as we call him, Hernandez has been everything the club thought he was, and more, since they signed him in 2017.
Under Marcelo Bielsa especially, the Spaniard has been a joy to watch. His passing range was exquisite, his runs off the ball sublime, and his ability to put the ball in the back of the net – absolutely majestic.
It’s a shame that we did not have in the peak of his powers as he would’ve been a completely different beast back then.
Imagine a 26-year-old Pablo running rings around some of the Premier League’s best players for this high-intensity and attack-minded Bielsa side.
We can’t have everything, but we are lucky to see four years of Hernandez – a player who’s played a key role in getting us to where we are today.
