Daniel Farke ‘worried’ as unseen Leeds United footage emerges on Sky Sports

Leeds United celebrated their Championship triumph on Saturday, but Sky Sports have shared footage that has caused concerns over Daniel Farke.

There has been a lot of talk about Farke since Leeds secured promotion to the Premier League on Easter Monday (21 April), with the 49ers said to be considering sacking him.

Members of 49ers Enterprises have privately expressed concerns over the German tactician’s record as a Premier League manager, leading Paraag Marathe to ponder the appointment of a new manager ahead of next season.

Nevertheless, Farke led the Whites to Championship glory with a 2-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle in their final game of the campaign on 3 May.

With the season finally concluded, the owners are expected to make a decision regarding the former Norwich boss soon.

Clinton Morrison upset by Farke footage

Clinton Morrison feels Farke was a withdrawn figure as Leeds United celebrated their status as Championship winners on Saturday.

The former Crystal Palace man highlighted footage on Sky Sports that showed the 48-year-old sitting idle on the bench with a gloomy expression while his players were in a jolly mood.

He has been ‘very surprised’ to learn that Leeds are considering sacking Farke, as they were ‘outstanding’ under the German this season.

Morrison, though, acknowledged the Whites’ owners’ ambition, tipping them to fork out a significant amount of money to stay in the Premier League next year.

He also said that Farke will not be short of options if he were to leave Elland Road, backing him to instantly find a new job.

“Very surprised, to be fair”, Morrison said on Sky Sports News (4 May, 12:53 pm).

“They have been outstanding, but I think if you look at his record in the Premier League when he got up with Norwich, it hasn’t been brilliant.

“I think the Leeds owners are very ambitious, but to do what he has done in 46 games when there were times last year where they fell away, and this year, a few months ago, people were thinking could Leeds do it again, but I think he’s done a brilliant job.

“But, you look at his body language, I was looking at when covering the game, when he was sat there and had a moment to himself.

“He looks like a man who’s a bit worried, didn’t really go in, and maybe he was taking it all in, and I hope he was taking it all in because it will be disappointing if he gets them promoted and then ends up losing his job.

“But, they are an ambitious club, Leeds, and they do want to stay in the Premier League. You would probably give them a fighting chance of staying in the Premier League because they will spend money.

“It is difficult; the gap is getting bigger between the Championship and the Premier League, as you see with the teams going down. But it will be disappointing if he loses his job, but he’ll get another job.”

Leeds United to sack Farke

It is worth noting that Marathe was supposed to give an interview to Sky Sports after Leeds United beat Bristol City 4-0 at Elland Road last Monday (28 April).

However, the 49ers chief backed out of the commitment, much to the frustration of fans and pundits.

Marathe’s silence on Farke’s situation has been deafening and it is disappointing to see the manager not get support from the owners after achieving their primary target.
