Daniel Farke wants Monday Leeds United start as ‘distinct possibility’ emerges

Daniel Farke is set to become the new manager of Leeds United and hopes to be in place to take training on Monday, according to The Guardian.

The German has agreed terms but his appointment has yet to be confirmed with the 49ers still needing to rubber-stamp their takeover with the EFL (The Guardian, 30 June).

However, it’s believed there’s a “distinct possibility” that Farke could be announced as the new head coach before the players return for pre-season on Monday 3 July.

Good news

It’s refreshing to see the managerial hunt near a conclusion.

Farke has been the main target for a number of weeks and the former Norwich man seems like the most sensible option.

He’s achieved promotion twice before and plays a decent brand of football. After a woeful Premier League campaign the board need to ensure the fanbase are entertained during the 2023/24 season.

Jesse Marsch’s side were fairly uninspiring and the less said about Sam Allardyce’s tenure at Elland Road the better.

Leeds United

There’s an opportunity for a significant reset to take place.

A new ethos and long-term plan can be implemented. Obviously, relegation has its financial implications but the prospect of starting afresh in the second tier is an exciting one for the fanbase.

Anything other than automatic promotion will be classed as a failure. The pressure is certainly on Farke, but he’s more than capable of delivering.

In other Leeds United news, the club have been handed a boost to sign a Manchester United player this summer with Erik ten Hag likely to sanction his exit.
