Daniel Farke told to speak to 49ers after Leeds United transfer ‘call to action’
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke is within his rights to bemoan the sale of his best players this summer, according to Simon Jordan.
Speaking on TalkSPORT (23 August, 12:54), Jordan said that while he’d prefer Farke to keep his comments in-house with United’s owners 49ers Enterprises, he understands the German’s position.
Farke has seen Archie Gray, Glen Kamara, Crysencio Summerville and most recently Georginio Rutter all sold this summer, and explained in a press conference that he wants to see replacements signed quickly.
Jordan said: “(Farke’s) under pressure to deliver Leeds with an outcome, so I would imagine what he’s doing is a call to action.
“Farke has a point, they’re selling players. In this instance, the manager needs to be given tools to get Leeds back to the Premier League, because that’s the expectation.
“He can say all this to the owner, and he can take his lead from the owner. His responsibly is to manage the team to the very best standards that the owner wants, and to manage the media the same way.
“It’s not an obligation to talk about the constant scenario of what you haven’t got, but I understand why he’s saying this.”
Time for 49ers Enterprises to prove their worth at Leeds United
Having taken over the club from Andrea Radrizzani in the wake of United’s chaotic relegation in 2023, the 49ers were largely given a free pass by the Elland Road faithful after last season’s slow start.
Farke’s side still managed to win 90 points in a campaign which was successful right until the very last, missing out on automatic promotion before losing the Championship play-off final to Southampton.

In the wake of their 1-0 defeat at Wembley, chairman Paraag Marathe couldn’t confirm if Gray would stay at the club with PSR guidelines to meet, but has since been relatively silent following other departures.
With only five players brought through the doors at Elland Road – and 14 heading the other way – much more is needed in the final week of the window after Largie Ramazani’s £10.2million arrival from Almeria.
Fake making a public admission that the club need signings, and fast, could be seen as unnecessary in normal circumstances – but with the summer Leeds United have had, the scenario is anything but normal.
In other Leeds news, new signing Largie Ramazani’s arrival will help the club to meet the EFL’s guidelines on homegrown players.
