Daniel Farke ‘toast at Leeds United’ within weeks in new sack verdict

Daniel Farke may have done a commendable job since arriving at Leeds United, but it will count for nothing if he fails to earn promotion again.

However, history could be set to repeat itself with the Whites falling out of form at a crucial point in the season and dropping out of the automatic promotion spots.

After a 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened Luton Town on Saturday (5 April), Leeds now sit third in the table, although just two points separate them from top spot.

Simon Jordan predicts Farke future at Leeds

Farke has not hidden away from the fact that his objective at Elland Road this season is to achieve promotion, and everyone knows that in West Yorkshire.

It is still incredibly tight at the top of the table so the race for promotion to the top flight is certainly not over yet but given Leeds have dropped off in recent years, the nerves are kicking in.

Furthermore, Farke’s side has a notoriously bad history in the play-offs, meaning if they don’t finish in the top two, they may feel doomed.

As a result, it’s no surprise that the future of the manager is being questioned should his side fail to progress to the Premier League at the second time of asking.

Speaking on talkSPORT (8 April, 11:59am), Simon Jordan admitted he sees no way for Farke to continue without promotion as he said: “I mean he would have been put in place to get promoted. If he’d have had two tilts at it then I don’t suspect he’ll get a third.

“This is the moment, this is it now. All you’ve done before has put you in a position where you can take advantage of it and what you’re doing is the polar opposite so Farke I think if they snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by either not getting automatic promotion or not getting up through the play-offs, I think he’ll be toast.”

Farke has to rise above the pressure

The expectations at Elland Road are high.

Leeds United are a club with a rich history, and they are intent on getting back to where they feel they belong and reflecting the more glorious years they previously experienced.

The race for promotion is tight.

With that in mind, as Jordan says, it’s hard to see a future for the German in West Yorkshire if he fails to achieve his aims of promotion, given he has had two tries at it with incredible squads.

The 49ers have provided financial backing to try and push Leeds to the top and if it doesn’t pay off then it will be time for someone else to give it a go.

However, Farke does not need to panic yet.

In fact, his side have the opportunity to put things right immediately with a trip to Middlesbrough on Tuesday that could potentially see them move to the top of the table depending on other results.

It’s clear the pressure is playing a part on the side in a recent downfall but if they are going to succeed in the top flight then they have to be able to get past this barrier first.
