Daniel Farke to sit up and take notice after what’s been said about Leeds star Calvert-Lewin
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in a rich vein of form for Leeds United following a recent return to the starting lineup.
Calvert-Lewin has now scored three in his last three Premier League games, against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
The former Everton man’s goals have helped drag Leeds out of the relegation zone, and the Whites are now two points clear of the bottom three.
After his side’s recent good performances, Daniel Farke has relieved some of the pressure that was building on him, and any talk of the sack should subside for the next few weeks at least.

Leeds can utilise Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hidden talents
At the end of last month, Leeds found themselves 2-0 down against Man City at half-time.
Farke switched to a 5-3-2 formation with Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha up front and the change had an immediate impact, with both strikers getting on the scoresheet in the second period.
Calvert-Lewin then started the next two games, against Liverpool and Chelsea, continuing to thrive in a front two.
However, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Calvert-Lewin’s former teammate Conor Coady explained that the 28-year-old has a lesser-known skill that Leeds can utilise.
Coady said: “I think [having a strike partner] benefits him, but he can play both ways. When I was at Everton, I played with him; he’s an outstanding footballer.
“People think he’s just a big lad you can go long to and he can win headers, but technically he’s very very good as well.
“You play the ball into his feet, he can set, he can spin. He can do all this side of the game as well. If they keep him fit and firing, they have a right chance of staying in the division.”
These are comments Farke will no doubt sit up and take notice of, with even more still to come from his first-choice striker.
Leeds face Calvert-Lewin dilemma
When Calvert-Lewin is fit and in this kind of form, he is one of the most impactful strikers in the Premier League.
The problem is that the former England international has often been hampered by injury issues, rarely completing a full season without picking up a knock or two.
| Season | Premier League appearances | Goals |
| 2024-25 | 26 | 3 |
| 2023-24 | 32 | 7 |
| 2022-23 | 17 | 2 |
| 2021-22 | 17 | 5 |
Farke will be incredibly tempted to start Calvert-Lewin every week, as he is so important in Leeds’ bid to stay in the Premier League.
However, the centre-forward could quite easily break down without sufficient rest and careful management of his minutes.
It will be a bit of a balancing act for Leeds and Farke in terms of Calvert-Lewin, as they cannot afford to lose him for an extended period.
