Daniel Farke to make Manor Solomon call for Leeds United showdown v Bristol City
Tony Dorigo has backed Daniel Farke to start Dan James ahead of Manor Solomon for the clash between Leeds United and Bristol City.
The Whites are looking to build on their win over Watford when they travel to Ashton Gate on Saturday (26 October) to face the Robins who are currently without head coach Liam Manning.
Farke will be without Largie Ramazani after it was confirmed the winger is set for a spell on the sidelines with injury [YEP, 25 October] and LUTV pundit Dorigo expects James to be handed his first start since August.
Speaking on The Square Ball podcast (25 October, 27:40) he said: “I think so. James comes on [against Watford] he looks fit and flying. We know the speed that he’s got.
“I think Solomon just didn’t quite look the same to me and I think at this level, with that speed he causes a lot of problems.”
What has happened to Dan James at Leeds United and Elland Road?
Losing Ramazani is a massive blow to the Whites, but in a strange way, it probably couldn’t have happened at a better time of the season.
Farke once again has both Solomon and James at his disposal having been without both wingers prior to the October international break as they dealt with their own fitness issues.
Had Ramazani been struck down during that period, the only real wide option available would have been Wilfried Gnonto. While other players are capable of stepping up out of position, it would have certainly harmed Leeds’ attempts to keep pace in the promotion race.
At least now, Farke can call upon both James and Solomon to step into the Belgian’s place while also having the other on the bench ready to come on and influence proceedings in some capacity.
Based on the win against Watford, it does feel as though James should be the man to get the nod.
Solomon didn’t look anywhere near his best against the Hornets, while the Welsh international’s pace caused their backline plenty of problems.
