Daniel Farke to make late Sam Byram decision, four ruled out – Early Leeds United team news v Queens Park Rangers
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has confirmed he will make a late decision on summer signing Sam Byram for Wednesday’s clash against QPR.
Both aiming to bounce back from weekend defeats, the Whites and Queens Park Rangers will do battle at Elland Road on Wednesday (4 October) with Farke’s men looking to kickstart their promotion journey following Saturday’s defeat to Southampton.
And speaking in his press conference (3 October) ahead of the game, he revealed he is concerned by the quick turnaround of games for the former Norwich City full-back who returned to the squad after injury but will make a late decision on his fitness.
Farke also confirmed that Willy Gnonto, Djed Spence and Junior Firpo are all progressing well but they won’t be available to train until after the upcoming international break while veteran Stuart Dallas has gone back to some individual training but is due to join full training again shortly.
Grab winning mentality back
In all fairness, Saturday’s defeat at Southampton was not only a disaster for Farke’s men but a real surprise given the form of both teams heading into that fixture.
It looked as if Farke’s men weren’t ready for the clash or at all willing to compete as Russell Martin sprung a superb tactical surprise that completely dumbfounded the Leeds United boss and his team.

The German will not want to go through that again and Wednesday’s clash with QPR presents an immediate shot at redemption for the Whites as they look to grab that winning feeling back again.
Before the game, Leeds were on an impressive four-game clean sheet streak and it won’t be a surprise to see Farke make some defensive changes for Wednesday’s game but what is most crucial will be the performance and the three points, whoever starts.
QPR certainly aren’t in the best of form right now but that doesn’t mean Leeds United can be complacent.
They need to pick themselves up again after Saturday’s loss and a win on Wednesday will be just the boost they need before the international break next week. After then, Farke will have an incredibly deep and talented squad to choose from.
In other Leeds United news, journalist Graham Smyth says the actions of a player against Southampton “was not a good look”.
