Daniel Farke to limit damage on Leeds United touchline ban after FA latest

Daniel Farke could be set to accept his one-match touchline ban for being sent off following the conclusion of Leeds United’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Peter Bankes gave Farke a straight red card after the full-time whistle on Saturday evening as the Whites boss ran across the pitch to confront the referee.

The German maintains that he did nothing wrong and didn’t say a single word to Bankes before he was dismissed by the official.

However, despite believing that video footage will prove his innocence, Farke could now choose to accept the ban rather than lodge an appeal.

Daniel Farke could make touchline ban appeal U-Turn

The FA are yet to contact Farke about the ban, which means he has not been given the chance to appeal.

His one-match touchline suspension would likely come into effect for Leeds‘ FA Cup Fifth Round clash with Norwich City on Sunday 8 March.

According to Leeds Live, rather than fight for his innocence, Farke could choose to take the hit against Norwich, which would allow him to be back in the dugout for the Whites’ trip to Crystal Palace a week later.

If his appeal against the original ban is rejected by the FA, then the suspension would be upgraded to two games, and the Leeds boss would be forced to sit in the stands against Palace.

Therefore, Farke may decide to bite the bullet for the FA Cup match, as his red card will then have no impact on the Whites’ Premier League survival hopes.

Daniel Farke will be in dugout vs Sunderland

Before Leeds take on Norwich in the FA Cup, they face Sunderland at Elland Road on Tuesday evening, in what is another crucial game in the Premier League survival race.

The West Yorkshire outfit are currently six points clear of the relegation zone, and have a great opportunity to increase that gap against the injury-hit Black Cats.

Leeds' position in the current Premier League table.

Despite his dismissal last Saturday, Farke is expected to be on the touchline at Elland Road.

This is because the FA have not yet contacted Leeds about the suspension, due to the quick turnaround between the two games.
