Daniel Farke to be a relieved man after what happened with Leeds star on international duty
Leeds United have had a promising start to the season, picking up four points from their first three games.
Leeds’ 1-0 win over Everton brought optimism to the West Yorkshire club’s return to the Premier League, with several new and familiar faces performing well
Despite not winning since then, a combination of Leeds’ new signings and the defensive solidity shown at Elland Road has left even the most pessimistic Leeds fans feeling hopeful.
As a result, Daniel Farke has had 13 of his players called up for international duty, and he’ll be hoping they all come back fit.

Gabriel Gudmundsson plays full match for Sweden
Gudmundsson was taken off injured in Leeds’ 0-0 draw against Newcastle, but played the full 90 minutes in Sweden’s 2-2 draw against Slovenia.
Fears over any sort of layoff for Gudmundsson were quashed in the week, and so that proved as he played a full part on Friday night.
Sweden find themselves in a tough World Cup qualifying group, with Switzerland currently sat top after the first round of matches.
Having made 16 appearances for his country, Gudmundsson will be hoping to play in his first World Cup, as Sweden look to rectify their failure of not qualifying for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
Their last World Cup appearance in 2018 saw them reach the quarter-finals, before eventually losing 2-0 to England.
Gudmundsson began his career in Sweden at Halmstads BK, with impressive performances kickstarting his career.
- Halmstads BK (2016 – 2019)
- FC Groningen (2019 – 2021)
- Lille (2021 – 2025)
Gudmundsson moved to Leeds for £10m, and has definitely been one of the more influential summer signings at Elland Road.

Gabriel Gudmundsson’s performances are key to Leeds’ success
Gudmundsson has been brilliant for Leeds so far, despite a shaky performance against Arsenal.
He provided a creative outlet in the 1-0 win against Leeds, whilst he was defensively solid coming up against Newcastle’s frontline.
Farke will be delighted to see his left-back is fit after the injury scare, as Leeds enter a crucial period of their season.
Fixtures against Wolves, Burnley and West Ham in their next six matches could prove vital in Leeds’ bid to avoid relegation straight back down to the Championship.
