Daniel Farke shockingly declares Leeds United player as ‘one of the best’ in the Premier League
Leeds United’s recent turnaround has rescued Daniel Farke’s job, at least in the meantime, and the German has praised one of his players.
When the Whites faced Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the space of three matches, hardly anyone could have predicted them winning four points.
Leeds salvaged a superb 3-3 draw against Liverpool last weekend after beating Chelsea and almost pulling off a sensational second-half comeback at Man City.
Farke’s men are now full of confidence ahead of Leeds’ visit to Brentford on Sunday, with one player becoming key to their resurgence.

Daniel Farke hails Dominic Calvert-Lewin as ‘one of the best’
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has hit a purple patch of form, scoring in each of his last three matches for the Whites, including a penalty against Liverpool.
Calvert-Lewin now has a chance to break a 25-year record this weekend, becoming the first Leeds player to score in four successive Premier League matches since 2000.
Speaking ahead of their visit to the Gtech Community Stadium, Farke has hailed the 28-year-old as ‘one of the best strikers’ in the top-flight.
“It’s what he’s done throughout his career,” Farke said in his pre-match press conference. “More than 250 Premier League games and more than 60 goals, this is why we were desperate to sign him.
“The key for him to to stay fit and to stay in a good rhythm and keep the confidence. “For me, he is one of the best strikers in this league.”
Calvert-Lewin is finally showing the form that saw him plunder 16 Premier League goals in the 2020/21 campaign, and such returns are crucial to their survival chances.

Calvert-Lewin pushing for England call-up
It’s easy to forget that the Leeds hitman was once an England international, earning 11 caps for his country, with his last appearance coming in July 2021 at the Euros.
| Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s Premier League stats this season | Per 90 minutes |
| Goals | 0.42 |
| xG | 0.48 |
| Shots | 2.84 |
| Chances created | 1.05 |
| Duels won | 6.74 |
| Touches in opposition box | 4.74 |
After his sensational form, Chris Sutton has tipped Calvert-Lewin for an England return and a possible inclusion in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad.
“Dominic Calvert-Lewin, since he’s come back into the team, has been sensational. He’s given them someone to hit, a focal point and a way to get up the pitch.
“The game-changer has been Calvert-Lewin. Everyone talks about the World Cup in the summer and England strikers. I tell you what, if he goes on a run, there’s no reason why he can’t make the World Cup.”
Currently the second top-scoring England striker in the Premier League, hitting double figures could see him realise the ambition of returning to international football.
